Mahogany-veneered Portico Clock

Height:
51 cm.
Maker:
Ferey au Havre
Price:
£2950

A French Portico Clock, a classic and beautiful example of what was made in France at the beginning of the nineteenth century, the so-called Empire period (Regency), c. 1810.

The mahogany veneers are of the highest quality and have a warm patina. The case has been restored by a specialist, while the movement was done by us. The capitals, basements and bezel are finished to a high standard and have their original gilding. The enamel chapter ring, a typical Empire characteristic, is sound and bears the name of the maker, FEREY AU HAVRE. The movement is typically French, in this case with anchor escapement and compensation pendulum, and half-hour striking on a bell.

Height: c. 40cm
