A FINE ENGLISH 12” DIAL CLOCK MADE FOR THE FOREIGN OFFICE
A lovely and attractive English dial clock, made c. 1935-40. The mahogany case is of a classic design for a dial clock, which were used in many public building, schools, government departments and the like. There is a door to the side that gives access to the movement and one in the ottom to set the pendulum going The latter can be secured by a lock and key.
The 12-inch painted dial is protected by a glass door with a cast brass bezel. The time is indicated by a fine pair of spade hands on a black Roman chapter ring with five minute and minute divisions.
The eight-day movement is constructed between two plates and consists of a going train only. It has a chain fusee, anchor escapement and a short pendulum. The clock is in good original condition. It is extremely suitable to be hung in a hall or a kitchen.
